About Parchment Paper

The original Parchment Paper was made from animal skins and was invented in Egypt in the 2nd century BC  as a response to the ban on the export of  Papyrus and became the most popular use for writing texts by the 3rd century BC.  Today’s version of Parchment Paper is achieved by treating a high density plant-based paper made from cellulose fibers with sulfuric acid.
W
ant to achieve an aged Parchment look? Please follow these tips and tricks on how to do so (Sorry, we do not offer this service as the paper is very delicate after it has received this treatment and not easily shippable

Our Parchment paper already has an aged look and is real parchment paper. However, you can add the following touches to your paper if you wish to make it even more aged looking:

1.)    Brew some hot coffee and pour it over the paper. You can sprinkle some instant coffee on strategic areas to create deeper effects. Then use a paper towel to dab up any remaining sprinkles.

2.)    Set your oven to a low temperature (200 Degrees Fahrenheit) and put your sheet on a  clean baking sheet to dry, probably about 5 minutes. You can tell when it is dry as the edges will curl up a and the paper will feel brittle. Please monitor this process carefully during the entire baking time to avoid any flames.

3.)    Tearing the edges or scorching them carefully over a candle flame provides an even more aged look to the parchment.

4.)    Please note that the paper will be very delicate in this stage and you can no longer write or print on it.

5.)    We also recommend that you test this treatment first if you are applying it to pages with writing on it, as some inks will tend to bleed during this process.
